Who Are We

SYLKE CRAFTS and its website is owned and operated by Kim Lapsley.

This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information when you visit and use the website

We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.

What Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It

We only collect information about you if we have a reason to do so–for example, to provide our services, to communicate with you, or to make our services better.

You may choose to provide us with information that can be used to contact or identify you such as your email address, name, via our subscription form and comment sections.

Technical data, including your IP address, may be collected automatically when you use this website to improve the website’s performance and security, and to monitor spam.

Why we Need Your Information and How we Use It

We rely on a number of legal bases to collect, use, and share your personal information, including:

  • as needed to provide our services, such as when we use your information to provide customer support;
  • if necessary to comply with a legal obligation or court order or in connection with a legal claim;
  • when you have provided your affirmative consent, which you may revoke at any time, such as when you subscribe to SYLKE CRAFTS’ Blog or comment section;
  • as necessary for the purpose of our legitimate interests, if those legitimate interests are not overridden by your rights or interests, such as providing and improving the website’s security and functionality.

Cookies are files with small amounts of data, which may include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are sent to your browser from a website and stored on your computer’s hard drive.

We have and will continue to make an effort to limit the cookies this website uses to those only necessary for the functioning of the website. These functional cookies do not store any personal data.

If you leave a comment on our website you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, if you do not accept cookies, some portions of our website may lose functionality. To learn more about cookies and how to block and delete them, we recommend reading the Choice article ‘How To Control Your Cookie Setting’.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. social media buttons, videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Social Media Plugin “Shariff Wrapper”
On our website we offer you the possibility to use so called “Social Media Buttons”. To protect your data, we use a solution called “Shariff”. Hereby the share buttons are implemented as static images, which contain a link to the corresponding social network site. If you click on such a button, you will be redirected to the respective social network site in the same way, as normal links would do as well. Only in that moment of time the provider of the social network site will get information about you, for example your IP address. If you do not click on such a share button, no data will be transmitted. Information about the collection and usage of your date on the social network sites can be found in the corresponding terms of use of the respective provider. More information about the plugin and the Shariff solution can be found here:

On our website we offer share buttons for the following services / companies: Facebook, Pinterest, Tumblr, and Twitter.

This website uses the plugin Statify to collect analytics data. Statify does not use cookies and does not collect any personally identifiable data. You can learn more about Statify on

Who We Share Your Data With

This website is run on WordPress. By default, WordPress does not share any personal data with anyone. Our comment section and subscription services are provided by Jetpack. WordPress and Jetpack’s data collection and use are governed by the Automattic Privacy Policy.

We store backup files of this website on Google Drive. Google Drive’s data collection and use is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

This website is hosted on GoDaddy.

We may disclose information about you in response to a subpoena, court order, or other governmental request.

How Long We Retain Your Data

We generally discard information about you when we no longer need the information for the purposes for which we collect and use it–which are described in the section above on What personal data we collect and why we collect it–and we are not legally required to continue to keep it.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

Correspondence sent to SYLKE CRAFTS’ email will be kept for around 1 year after the last email correspondence between us and you, unless legal obligations require we retain it for a longer period.

What Rights You Have Over Your Data

If you are located in certain countries, including those that fall under the scope of the European General Data Protection Regulation (AKA the “GDPR”), data protection laws give you rights with respect to your personal data, subject to any exemptions provided by the law, including the rights to:

  • Request access to your personal data;
  • Request correction or deletion of your personal data;
  • Object to our use and processing of your personal data;
  • Request that we limit our use and processing of your personal data; and
  • Request portability of your personal data.
  • Complain to your local data protection authority about our use of your information.

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
